3.3 Binge eating disorder

The last type of eating disorders is binge eating disorder. A person who are suffering form this are either eating most of the time or having periods of bingeing. Some are even getting up in the middle of the night to eat. Because persons with binge eating disorder often are switching between having periods where they eat a lot and periods where they are dieting, they don’t have to be overweight or obese, even if many are.

As bulimia, binge eating disorder is a non-existent problem in India. The main reason is because many Indians don’t get enough food, and when they don’t have enough food to get fill, they don’t have enough to binge eat or eat most of the time.  

Binge eating disorder has only been seen as a psychological dysfunction in some few years and therefore it is not much statistics about it. Anyway some investigators has found out that binge eating disorder is the most common eating disorder among the British people, and some investigations shows that about 2% of all British adults are affected. Most people who are suffering from this illness are obese, and are weighing about 20% more than healthy. As with all types of eating disorders, binge eating disorder affects most women and about 60% of the sufferers are females. The reason why binge eating disorder are affecting many British people might be because in UK there are a huge supply for food, especially unhealthy food and drinks like fast food, cakes, candies, sodas etc. People with binge eating disorder are also getting affected to diet by the media, and because of that, they usually starts to diet after they have had a period of binge eating.
