This week we have had a project week where we have worked with English and Science. The assertion we have worked with is:

We think that dieting, eating disorders and lifestyle related illnesses have a lot to do with economy and wealth. To examine this assertion we are going to compare India and the United Kingdom.

We chose this assertion because it is covering several of our curriculum goals in both English and Science. The reason why we chose to compare India and UK is because both of these countries are English speaking (which was one of the curriculum goals), and we thought that it would be interesting to compare these countries because they are in two different corners in the world, and they have a lot of differences when it comes to economy, wealth and topics that deals with food. Before we started to study the countries we had a little talk where we talked about what we already knew and thought about the countries. We also found some main facts about India and the UK that shows the countries’ economy and population. Here are some of the main ideas that we had:

- UK have more problems with overweight, obesity and life style related illnesses caused by a bad diet. Compared to India where several people are struggling to get enough food, most British people have a good economy and a greater possibility to buy more food than necessary. Another important fact is that there are much more supply for fast food, sodas, candies, cakes and other unhealthy food and drinks in UK.

- The people in the UK have more problems with dieting and eating disorders than the population of India because they are getting more affected to diet through TV, commercials, magazines, internet and movies.

- In India most people are poor, and many do not have enough money to by more food than necessary. Some are even getting less food than they need.

- British people spend a lot of time in front of their TV and PC instead of doing physical activities.

- Another reason might be that in India most people are working within the primary industry and therefore they are using their body more physically than in UK.
